Determining and implementing your desired strategy for a site-wide match or challenge is a critical step! While these resources will show you how to set up your Matches & Challenges, we wanted to share some more information around how to best utilize some of the more strategic settings.
Start/End Time & Time Zones
This is a critical step to ensure your match or challenge runs on its own during your desired times without your oversight. Otherwise, it will run for the entire period your donations are open. Ensure you've selected the correct date/time, especially when coinciding with a midnight start/end!
Enable Auto-Matching (For Matches Only)
This allows all eligible donations to automatically be matched without requiring manual application of matching funds. If you have match criteria that is not configured by one of the available options, you may need to consider shutting off Auto-Matching. Connect with support to determine the best path forward!
Challenges are always auto-matched and cannot be applied manually.
Archive
This allows you to hide (disable) the match or challenge manually. This option can be great if you want to hide a match or challenge ahead of its start, perhaps as a surprise opportunity. Or, if a match or challenge has been fulfilled and you want to hide it from view to focus on upcoming match opportunities. Keep in mind, an archived match or challenge will not run until you unarchive it!
Eligibility Rules
Are you considering only offering only to specific organizations? Examples: a sponsoring foundation wants to provide match only to its grantees. Or, the funder is offering these funds for organizations that fall within a specific cause category. Alternatively, you want to offer this opportunity for organizations who registered early for your giving day. You will need to manually enter the eligible organizations' ID's, which can be found by exporting your list of registrants.
Survey Choice ID's
Get creative and apply your match or challenge based on your donors' responses in your Donor Survey. For example, you have a "Class of 1990" challenge that only Alumni from 1990 are eligible for. All donors who select that year when completing their gift will count towards that match or challenge! This setting is how you tell the system which donations to filter as part of its eligibility criteria.
