Understanding the types of landing page sections

Learn what different types of landing page sections are available for my Giving Day site and what they are used for!

Note: This article is written for Giving Day hosts. If you are a participant or supporter of a Giving Day, this article may not pertain to your efforts.

When adding a new Landing Page section, you can choose from a variety of options! Read on for a description of what each section is used for, what it contains, and whether or not it can be customized.

About

  • Description: This is a section that includes some customizable site copy along with an image.

  • Contents: Header text, body text, and circle image*.

  • Can be edited? Yes


Custom HTML

  • Description: This is a section that gives the ability to enter in whatever custom HTML you would like to appear in the section. HTML templates can be found here. If you have any questions, please ask your PM.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? Yes


Hero

  • Description: This is the “main” section of the landing page. It is typically found at the top of the landing page and includes an aesthetically pleasing background image, a customizable call-to-action button, the giving day’s stats (when enabled), the countdown clock, and some customizable site copy.

  • Contents: Background image*, call-to-action button (can edit button text and destination after clicking Actions > Edit), tagline (can edit by clicking Actions > Edit), giving day stats (only in pre-giving, giving, or success phase)*, giving day date*, countdown clock*.

  • Can be edited? Yes


Organization Search

  • Description: This section holds a search bar that donors can use to search for and find the organization or area that they want to donate to. Ask your PM if you would like to use a different word than “organization”.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No*


Prizes Announcement

  • Description: This section will show any prizes (sometimes referred to as challenges) that have been highlighted via the Prizes tab of the Partner Dashboard. This will only show if the Prizes page is enabled via the Prizes tab.

  • Can be edited? No

  • Contents: N/A


Prize Winners Announcement

  • Description: This section contains some copy that is not customizable regarding prize winners. It also includes a link that when clicked will take the user to the Prizes page. This will only show if the Prizes page is enabled via the Prizes tab of the Partner Dashboard.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No


Recent Donations

  • Description: This section will show recent donors in order of most recent → least recent. The donor’s name and donation amount will appear unless they elected to not show that information publicly. The organization or area that received the donation will also be displayed. This section is typically only used during the giving and success phases, but primarily only in the giving phase.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No**


Registration Banner

  • Description: This section is typically only used in phases other than the registration phase. The banner includes a link for organizations or areas to click and be taken to the registration process if registration is still open but the site had to switch to a different phase, like the giving phase for example.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited?: No**


Social Media Feed

  • Description: This section displays the Tagboard! Tagboard is a social media aggregator - if you have any questions please ask your PM.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No*


Sponsors

  • Description: This section will display the sponsors that you enter and configure in the Sponsors tab of the Partner Dashboard. Typically, this section is used to highlight those organizations, businesses, groups that have helped in some way to make the giving day happen.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No*


Sponsorship Banner

  • Description: This section is a thin banner that includes a button that when clicked, will take the user to a CMS page that can be customized however you would like. The purpose of this banner is to allow potential sponsors a process to learn more about how to become a sponsor for the giving day. This is typically used during the registration phase, but can also be used in other phases of the site.

  • Contents: N/A

  • Can be edited? No**


Video

  • Description: This section is used to embed a YouTube or Vimeo video directly onto the landing page! Ensure that if you add a video section, you add the link to your video or this section will be empty on the landing page.

  • Contents: YouTube or Vimeo URL. (Must be the embeddable version of the video URL, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/embed/abcdefghijk.)

  • Can be edited? Yes


*Not customizable via the Landing Page Builder, but can be changed elsewhere. Please ask your Project Manager if you’d like to change this.
