Use General Information to Grab Your Supporters' Interest

Whether you are organizing an event or campaign, the first step to reaching out to Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Champions is always crafting a compelling title, tagline, and goal for your fundraiser. These elements ensure a successful campaign and will help you to grab your supporters' interest, making them more likely to want to donate money and set up fundraising pages of their own that they go on to promote through their personal social media pages. 


The title of your Campaign or Event should be something that reflects your organization, the reason you're fundraising, and that also sounds exciting or interesting to the fundraisers who will become champions for your organization. 

Example 1 (Campaign)

  • Ok: "Help Offset the Costs of Our New Goats"
  • Good: "Support Our New Gang of Goats"
  • Excellent: "Meet the Green Mountain Mix Mob!"

Example 2 (Event)

  • Ok: "Bowling for Kittens"
  • Good: "Rescue Kitten Bowl-a-Thon"
  • Excellent: "Stray Cats and King Pins: Bowl-o-Rama"


Your tagline is one of the first things potential donors and Fundraising Champions see in connection to your campaign or event. To be most effective, it should be a quick one sentence overview of your campaign. It should be designed to give your supporters or any potential supporters who find your page a quick and snappy reason as to why they should support your organization by participating in Peer-to-Peer Fundraising. 

Example 1 (Campaign)

  • Ok: "Donate to our campaign for our new goats we just brought in."
  • Good: "Join us in supporting our new goat gang."
  • Excellent: "Join VINE Sanctuary in welcoming a ragtag gang of goats and sheep recently rescued from starvation."

Example 2 (Event

  • Ok: "Come out to bowl in support of our new rescue kittens."
  • Good: "Join us in bowling to support our new rescue kittens."
  • Excellent: "Join Stray Cat Rescue for Bowling and Cocktails in support of our newest rescue kittens!"

Fundraising Goal

In addition to setting up a fundraising goal for your organization's main campaign or event page, you will be asked to set up a goal that will display on the personal fundraising pages for your peer-to-peer fundraising champions. The goals that you set should be S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Bound). 

When creating a goal for your Fundraising Champions, think about your overall campaign or event goal. Why are you raising money? How can your goal and the goals of your peer fundraisers tie into your story? What non-monetary goals are you trying to achieve? 

When managing their Fundraising Toolkit, individual fundraisers will be able to edit their own goals, so you can encourage them to think about these elements as well!
