1. Verification with the IRS

  • Once you add your bank account and other verification details, GiveGab checks your EIN number against this IRS database to ensure your organization is tax deductible (according to Pub. 78 data).
  • This verification occurs within 24 hours after the information is added.
  • You will hear from the GiveGab team within one week if your EIN is not valid.

2. Verification with Stripe

  • Once you add your bank account and other verification details, Stripe checks your EIN number and organization representative information.
  • This is to confirm that your organization has not been listed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as a Specially Designated National (SND) engaged in or supporting terrorism, and to confirm that your organization is in compliance with Anti-Money Laundering Federal Regulations including US PATRIOT, BSA and OFAC.
  • This verification occurs within 48 - 72 business hours after the information is added.
  • You will hear from the GiveGab team within one week if your EIN is not valid.

3. Verification with your State

  • If required by the state you are fundraising in, ensure that your organization is registered as a nonprofit with the appropriate state agency.
  • This is a manual check and completed on a two week lag after registration by the GiveGab Customer Success team
  • You will hear from the GiveGab within two weeks if you are not registered with your state.

If your organization’s EIN or organization representative information comes back as invalid during one of these steps, we will ask that you provide us proof of your status as a tax deductible organization (if the EIN fails step 1 or 3), or for the organization representative’s full social security number or passport (if the organization representative information fails step 2).

Once this documentation is furnished and verified, your organization will be eligible to fundraise on GiveGab.
