As of May 12, 2017, all dates and times displayed on your organization's donation tab within your Admin Dashboard and within your donation report are recorded in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). This is to better assist with your bank statement reconciliation processes.
Prior to this update, dates and times were shown in Eastern Time.
What is UTC?
UTC is an abbreviation for Coordinated Universal Time, and is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. It does not observe daylight saving time.
All time zones are based off of UTC time.
Why are we changing to UTC for the donation report?
In October, 2016, our payment processor, Stripe, changed the time they processed payouts for all bank accounts to UTC.
This change caused confusion within the donation report as the payout dates in the report did not match the payout dates in many nonprofit's bank accounts.
What donation records were affected?
Donation records from October 1, 2016 through May 12, 2017 were all updated to UTC. They were previously recorded in Eastern Time. All donations prior to October 1 would have been processed and recorded correctly. All donations received May 12, 2017 to present day are recorded in UTC.
In the future, we plan to implement a time zone selector so you can choose the time zone your donations are displayed in.
